DENSO PDE CHEAT SHEET

DENSO PDE CHEAT SHEET

Denso PDE's are our recommendation for completing stocktakes at your venue.
This article will detail the steps you need to take to complete a stocktake, as well as some common issues that these PDE's have.

Using the PDE for your stocktake:

If you are beginning your stocktake and the below options are not visible on the PDE when you first turn it on, you may be on the wrong screen. To make sure we are beginning from the same point,  turn the PDE off. Then press the "SF", "1" and power buttons at the same time until the PDE turns back on. After this Click  1 - execute program and select enter, then hit enter on gen.pd3. You should now be ready to begin the following steps.

1. Turn on your PDE if it is not already with the power button located down the bottom.
2. Hit enter on the "Stock Take" page. If there are items previously scanned in an active stocktake, you can select the clear function from this menu. If not, select "add".
3. Key in the date of your stocktake using the number pad as well as the arrow keys or D-pad. Do the same for the location number you are stocktaking.
4. You can now go ahead and scan all of your stocktaking items, use the red button on the side of the PDE to scan item barcodes, after each item you need to type in each items quantity.
5. Once you have finished scanning all of your items, hit the F1 button 3 times until you have returned to the Stock Take Menu.

Getting the PDE data to your iControl:

Once you have completed your stocktake, you can now undertake the process of transferring it from the PDE to iControl.

1. Head into iControl and the stocktake tab on the left hand side. From there select the Stocktake Entry button.
2. Hit add in the top right hand corner of the Stocktake page, add the location of your stocktake batch.
3. From here you can also select whether or not to load all items, or only items you select using the search categories below, or individual items using the items button.
4. Now you have an open stocktake batch, connect your PDE using its respective cable or base.
5. Select the PDE Load button down the bottom of your stocktake batch, Change the first bullet point to "Read from PDE" and have location to use set as "use Location from PDE file".
6. After hitting enter, confirm the Speed and Port are correct on the "connect to PDE" popup as well as having accept area numbers from the pde selected.
7. Select Ok on the computer, then quickly select transmit on the PDE.
8. Your stocktake is now in icontrol.

Common issues:

PDE stuck in transmit mode:

If a PDE is stuck in transmit mode or has an error on the screen it will require a reset
To reset a pde follow the below steps
  1. Turn off the PDE with [PW]
  2. While holding the [SF] key and the number [1] press [PW]
  3. Choose [1] Execute Program and press [Enter]
  4. Press [Enter] on GEN.PD3
This will reset the BAUD rate to the default of 2400, if this needs to be changed to match the computers speed then use the arrows on the bottom row of keys to go through the menu:
  1. Stocktake Entry
  2. Baud
  3. Choose new baud rate

PDE not able to transmit:

Another issue you may encounter when attempting to transmit using the PDE is that it will not send.
This is seen when your connect to PDE app continues to retry while the PDE is still transmitting.

To overcome this issue complete the following steps:
1. Check that your connect to PDE app has the correct port applied.
1.1 The connect to pde application depicts a list of ports you can choose from, to identify which port your PDE is plugged into open device manager on your computer.
1.2 In device manager under the ports tab, see what port the device is plugged into and confirm it is the same as what the connect to PDE application shows.
2. Check the baud rate of the PDE is the same as the baud rate of the port.
2.1 Using the same steps as above, right click on the port the device is plugged into in the device manager app.
2.2 Enter properties and see if the BAUD rate or SPEED is the same as the BAUD in the PDE
2.3 To see the BAUD rate on the PDE enter the stocktake page, and go to BAUD.
